Thomson ResearchSoft Showcases EndNote on the Desktop and Web at Macworld

Makers of EndNote feature a Web-based version of the popular bibliographic solution, expanding the EndNote research and writing environment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Carlsbad CA, USA - January 11, 2007
—On January 10-13, at Macworld in San Francisco, Thomson ResearchSoft (www.researchsoft.com), a business of The Thomson Corporation, features EndNote® X for Mac® OS X, the popular bibliographic desktop product, and introduces EndNote® Web, the new Web-based research and writing tool. Attendees can learn about the latest version of EndNote, designed for Intel® Core™, and see the new EndNote Web, a bibliographic tool that complements and integrates seamlessly with EndNote desktop and the ISI Web of Knowledge(SM) research platform. EndNote Web can be used with all popular browsers, including Safari(TM). EndNote Web supports EndNote desktop users who desire a Web component to their bibliographic solution and expands the EndNote community to undergraduate students who can benefit from the fundamental features in EndNote Web.

“Mac users worldwide can now work with their reference collections using the combination of EndNote X and EndNote Web at the office, home, in the library or on the road—whatever their personal work style demands,” said David L. Kochalko, president, Thomson ResearchSoft. “Connectivity with the ISI Web of Knowledge gives users one-click access to a wealth of content and EndNote Web even keeps track of how often an article is cited. Now the millions of EndNote users who require the power of a desktop application when writing can be even more productive using EndNote Web with EndNote.”

Expanded PDF Management, Mac-specific features and more in EndNote X
Researchers, scholarly writers, librarians and students worldwide use EndNote to search online bibliographic databases, organize references, images and PDF files in any language, and create bibliographies instantly. EndNote X introduces a new way to manage PDFs. Simply drag and drop a PDF file onto an EndNote record. EndNote stores the file with the EndNote references, and creates a link automatically. EndNote X for Mac allows users to customize toolbars for working with libraries and references, and EndNote X search results in Mac OS X Tiger Spotlight searches now include descriptive details, making individual references more identifiable. Additionally, EndNote X.0.2 provides a new “transfer references” feature that enables users to easily move and share references with EndNote Web, expanding the EndNote environment beyond the desktop.

Bibliographies on the Web
EndNote Web, available as a site-wide license, offers the basic bibliographic management features found in EndNote desktop plus the collaboration opportunities of an online environment. Users can search ISI Web of Knowledge, PubMed and hundreds of online library catalogs, organize references in folders, and create bibliographies in over 2,300 publishing styles. The popular Cite While You Write
(TM) technology is available as an optional plug-in for Microsoft® Word® users to create bibliographies instantly. References can be transferred directly between EndNote Web and EndNote X desktop, and references from both EndNote and EndNote Web can be cited in one document. In addition, EndNote Web folders can be shared easily, simplifying collaboration with colleagues.

EndNote Web provides a bibliographic solution for undergraduate students and periodic writers. For professional researchers and graduate students who depend on EndNote desktop features such as the ability to organize and cite images and manage PDFs and term lists, EndNote Web is the perfect complement to EndNote—providing online storage for references and an efficient means of collaboration with colleagues and students throughout the research and publishing process.
