Thomson ISI ResearchSoft Showcases Productivity Tools for Researchers at Macworld

Makers of the Popular EndNote Program Now Offer Data Visualization and Web Product

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Carlsbad, CA, USA - January 6, 2004
—Thomson ISI ResearchSoft presents a suite of Mac OS X® applications for the full spectrum of users, from students to career researchers. Attendees will see the latest versions of EndNote®, the popular bibliographic software used by millions of researchers, scholarly writers, librarians and students, and WriteNote, a Web-based research and writing tool designed for the undergraduate market. ISI ResearchSoft is also introducing RefViz for Mac OS X, a new data visualization tool for the researcher’s desktop developed in collaboration with OmniViz, Inc.

“We are excited to show a variety of productivity tools for researchers at Macworld,” said David Kochalko, President of ISI ResearchSoft. “With 20 years of experience providing bibliographic tools to over a million researchers, we offer solutions on the desktop and Web that meet the needs of all users, from students learning to write papers to professionals publishing their research.”

The standard in bibliographic software
Researchers, librarians and students use EndNote 7 to search online bibliographic databases, organize references and images in a database, and create bibliographies. With ISI ResearchSoft’s Cite While You Write™ (patent pending), bibliographies appear immediately as users insert citations into a manuscript. EndNote knows the rules for more than 1,000 bibliographic styles, so researchers save time publishing in any discipline. And users can now go mobile with their EndNote references on Palm
® handhelds.

Explore reference literature visually
RefViz, the first affordable visualization tool for researchers, provides users with a powerful way to explore reference libraries visually for major themes and topics. Researchers can evaluate large results sets from online searches quickly. An at-a-glance summary reveals trends and associations in the references, providing an additional level of analysis that allows researchers to find the most relevant citations for their papers. References can be moved easily between RefViz and EndNote, accelerating the publishing process. The combination of RefViz and EndNote makes these products ideal for researchers in any discipline whether in the sciences or the arts and humanities.

Web-based research tool
WriteNote 1.6 is a unique educational tool designed for the student audience in universities, two-year and four-year colleges and secondary schools. Using WriteNote students can collect and organize references in a personal web library and format papers with footnotes or a bibliography. WriteNote works with all popular Web browsers and Macintosh
®, Unix® and Windows® word processors. Version 1.6 introduces full Unicode support for non-Roman languages. Sold as an annual, site-wide subscription to the institution, WriteNote is designed to help students conduct their research and write papers.
